Still Life with Three Lemons and a Mug (Day 4)

This is fourth day on this painting. Here is yesterday's painting.

Today I painted more details on the books and little more shadings on the lemons. Also, I added reflections on the shelf and touched it up more. Here is what I've got so far.

I think I need one more day to finish up.

  4. Gee...this is wonderful! Just curious..how large is it? Also, do you find any challenges doing the underpainting in acrylic? Thanks for posting the stages of this painting.

  5. Thank you everyone for your comments.
It feels so good to have some feedback on my work.
And answering Paula's questions, this painting is 16 x 20 inches, and for me, acrylic underpainting worked a lot better because it dries so fast, and you can even apply multiple layers of different colors if you like. I didn't see any drawbacks.
And an interesting coincidence, I just found another artist who does acrylic underpaintings as I read the American Artist magazine yesterday (March 2009, p.33).
