Peter, Thanks for all your kind words and comments on my blog. You have a tremendous talent with perspective. You are right on! You had asked if I did an underpainting with burnt sienna. Actually I tone my canvases with red or yellow oxide. Then I do an underpainting with a dark neutral. These are tricks I learned from Laurel Daniels, and they seem to serve me well. Keep up the beautiful work.
Ok, you've officially increased my yearning to get on a plane and go somewhere! lol. Wonderful paintings. I was in Tuscany and Venice when I was in college many moons ago, and have been longing to go back ever since! Lovely work, Peter.
Watercolor was my first love.
I used to bring in a small watercolor set and paint in my car during my break.
And painted local scenery for over ten years.
There were times when I painted watercolor en plein air and sold my work to morning joggers, lunch time pass-byers and evening walkers everyday.
Then switched to oil and painted about ten years.
Now I'm back to watercolor and still love it.
It's like an old friend who greets me after all these years, warm, cheerful, spontaneous and surprising!
Peter,

ReplyDeletechecking out your blog. Wonderful touch and I like the way you are handling some difficult subjects. Great compositions. Great still lifes.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Peter! A glass of wine in Tuscany sounds pretty good. You've got a great sense of perspective in both of these paintings.
