Expecting Vermeer
This is my original oil on canvas (20x16 in) inspired by the Dutch painter Vermeer's "girl with a pearl earing".
I arranged the setting to reflect the time period of the artist. The girl standing in the studio is supposed to be the girl in the painting - maybe waiting for the artist.
This painting is available for sale.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Peter, it's good to see your blog here! Now we can stay in touch. I love the way your art is developing and the stories you are telling with your painting. The castle by the lake in the painting reflected by the mirror is magnificent. It makes me wonder, did this woman come from that castle? Does she hang out with artists a lot and have random paintings about the house? And where's she going to sit if Vermeer comes back and wants to paint some more? Maybe Vermeer is left handed and her chair is hidden behind the curtain? Maybe the viewer is Vermeer? So -- this is what it feels like! Thanks for the painting, I love it!
ReplyDeletePeter, "Expecting Vermeer" is just wonderful. It has it's own personality. Very well done !
